Objectives and Aims

Sikh Forum
International

The Sikh Forum International while planning its objectives got inspiration from the teachings of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and the successor Gurus embodied in Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The Founder of this Forum is Ranjit Singh OBE, who is professionally an Electrical Engineer and had later on established RK Group of constructions and property companies in late 70s. More than 100 employees in and around London area are working in his companies.

The Co-Founder of this Forum is Late Gen. Jagjit Singh Aurora who had participated in 1971 war against Pakistan and on 16th December 1971, Lt. Gen A.A.K. Niazi, Commanding Officer of Pakistan Armed Forces in East Pakistan signed the instrument of surrender in his presence.

Ranjit Singh OBE

Before The Sikh Forum International was established in 1986, Late Gen. Aurora was an active member of Citizen Justice Committee, which provided probono assistance to the victims of 1984 genocide of Sikhs. At the time of Late Gen. Aurora’s death on 3rd May 2005, Mr. Morshed Khan, the then Bangladeshi Foreign Minister remarked: “Aurora will be remembered in the history of Bangladesh for his contribution during our war of liberation in 1971, when he led the allied forces”.

Co- founder of

Objectives
and Aims

The Forum is a cultural and charitable organization in the UK and its principal aims and objectives are as under:
  • Promote the cultural heritage of Sikhism and spread its message of peace, the Oneness of God, and universal brotherhood.
  • Unite the Sikh Intelligentsia to promote understanding and openness with other faiths.
  • Raise the profile of Sikhs and encourage them to take part in political and public life.
  • Raise funds for charities in Britain and abroad.
